Introduction
For high-voltage and extra-high-voltage applications, the electric field can become concentrated around the metal fittings and other high-voltage components. A grading ring helps distribute the electric field more evenly, reducing localized electrical stress and helping minimize corona discharge and related surface deterioration.
A voltage grading ring, also commonly called a corona ring or grading ring, is a conductive metal ring fitted around selected parts of a high-voltage insulator assembly.
Its primary function is to modify and improve the distribution of the electric field around the insulator and its metal fittings.
